After Paris, BlueBirds was launched in Morocco somewhat by chance. More precisely because encounters often pave the way of small businesses. My local experience helped us setting up in Casablanca. And I have told you enough about my love for Africa in general and Morocco in particular. Morocco was not quite at the top right of the attractiveness/accessibility matrix but still, setting up a team there was one of the best decisions we have ever made.
And then Kazim Hasnain came along and here I am announcing our move to London.
Siham, Sébastien, Diane and I had said to each other that 2024-2025 would be a year of consolidation in our historical markets but that we would look at opportunities to set up elsewhere if they presented themselves. Lilia, who had just been recruited just a year ago, said to me one day, « You should meet Kazim. I just spoke with him about referencing freelance. You should get along well. » Et voila!
The entrepreneur that I have become will first tell you of his immense joy. Joy of growing up, joy of having to cross the Channel again as I used to before launching BlueBirds. Joy of finding our English friends again whose humor and pragmatism I envy and with whom I know I can share their independence of mind.
The UK is the leading market for independent consulting and interim management in Europe. All of you who use our services in France, in Morocco or in the Middle East, I will no longer have to tell you, « Go and see our colleagues on site, they are much better. » From now on it will be « Our competitors are not better than us, they are just different. And we have two or three things to remind you to convince you to trust us ».
The entrepreneur that I have become also knows that nothing is won. It is not because you start that you succeed, especially in such a competitive market. My enthusiasm is therefore coupled with humility. Kazim and I make you a promise. We will do everything to succeed.
A few words about Kazim. Kazim began his career at PWC in Pakistan and Singapore where he stayed for 7 years. Then he dove into the pharmaceutical industry. It was first Sanofi, then Lilly where he worked for more than 10 years to end up as General Manager of Pakistan. He then joined Syngenta where he managed Indonesia. He has just moved to the UK to join his children. I find it funny that I left the UK to join mine and create BlueBirds.
It is courageous of him to embark on this adventure with us. I know I can count on you to give him the best welcome.
UK, here we come!
